POLICY NUMBER 203
Date First Adopted: March 9th, 2006
REVOCATION OF MEMBERSHIP POLICY
I. OBJECTIVE To establish the time length and proper
procedure to revoke a membership
II. CONTENT Upon the conviction, adjudication or
admission of a theft, vandalism, or the breach of any
law within The Community Center by a member, their
membership may be revoked for a period of not less then
thirty (30) days, but no more than one (1) year. The
Community Center Director may revoke the membership on a
first offense for up to thirty (30) days for a minor
incident of theft or vandalism. In the event the
Director feels more than thirty (30) days revocation is
required or the incident is not minor in nature then in
that event the matter shall be reviewed by the Board of
Directors for the determination as to the length of the
revocation. If the member who is having their membership
revoked for an offense of this nature is also a DSU
student, then the DSU Student Affairs Office will also
be notified of the incident.
If the incident is a repeat or subsequent offense for
the member involved, then a determination as to the
period of revocation for the member will automatically
go before the Board of Directors for a determination as
to the length of the period of expulsion. A second
violation of this policy may result in a permanent
suspension from The Community Center.
Upon the determination of the length of revocation, a
letter shall be sent to the member referencing by date
the incident leading to the revocation and specifying
the date the revocation commences and the date upon
which the member may reapply for reinstatement. Any
membership dues paid during the period of revocation
shall be forfeited by the member and shall remain the
property of The Community Center.
Any decisions by the Board of Directors as to the
length and duration of the period of suspension shall be
approved by a majority of the Board of Directors present
when the issue is discussed. An individual seeking
reinstatement to The Community Center following a period
of suspension must make an application requesting
reinstatement, which shall be reviewed by the Board of
Directors. That reinstatement application must also be
approved by a majority of the Board of Directors present
when the issue is discussed. |
